How Marketing Is Giving Women the Freedom to Actually Have It All

Alright, let’s set the scene: you’re scrolling TikTok at 11 p.m., sipping lukewarm tea, and you see yet another boss babe effortlessly running her empire while doing yoga with a toddler on her back. Relatable? Not so much.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably thought, “Having it all? Cute idea, but who’s actually pulling that off?” Honestly, same. But here’s the twist: the discipline of marketing has brought us pretty darn close. It’s given women the flexibility to step away from the 9-to-5 hamster wheel and, for people like me, the chance to create a business that empowers women while also building another revenue stream. And guess what? I’m still chasing my corporate dreams in parallel—because why not have your cake and post about it on Instagram too?

The Revolution Is Remote (And I’m Here for It)

Marketing has always been a little rebellious. We chase trends, break rules, and yes, convince people they absolutely need another set of throw pillows. But what’s even cooler is how this industry has gone digital. Whether you’re managing social ads in sweats or brainstorming content strategies from your kitchen table, marketing is the OG of remote-friendly careers.

Thanks to platforms like FlexJobs and RemoteWoman, women everywhere are turning their couches into corner offices. Want to create an ad campaign while dodging Lego bricks? You can. Need to pitch a client while hiding laundry piles off-camera? Totally doable.

Balancing Work, Life, and Snacks

Let’s be honest: the idea of “balance” is basically a marketing ploy in itself. What we really need is flexibility—and marketing delivers. It lets women fit their careers into their lives instead of the other way around.

For me, that means juggling client meetings while reheating dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets or editing a campaign draft at soccer practice. It’s chaotic, sure, but it’s my chaos, and that makes all the difference. The real trick is boundaries. If you don’t carve out “you time,” your to-do list will swallow you whole. Whether it’s a quick Peloton ride or a “research session” scrolling TikTok, you’ve got to protect your peace.

Running the Show Like a Boss (Literally)

Starting my own agency wasn’t just about escaping the grind—it was about creating something bigger. A space to empower women, foster creativity, and maybe even make Monday mornings a little less soul-sucking.

The best part? I’m not alone. More women are starting businesses and redefining what leadership looks like. (Spoiler: it involves flexibility, inclusivity, and not pretending to have all the answers.) Of course, the stats still sting—like the fact that only 0.1% of creative agencies are founded by women. But hey, we’re rewriting the script, one bold idea at a time.

The Freedom to Define "All"

At the end of the day, “having it all” isn’t about doing everything—it’s about choosing what matters most to you. For some, it’s building an empire from the dining room table. For others, it’s designing a life where work takes a backseat to family, hobbies, or finally learning how to bake bread.

Whatever your version of “all” looks like, marketing has given us the tools to make it happen. And if that’s not empowerment, I don’t know what is.

So here’s to us—the women writing our own rules, one campaign, pitch, and perfectly timed TikTok at a time. Whether you’re in a blazer or bunny slippers, keep showing up, because you’re killing it.
